Five freaky flicks to get your Halloween on!

You either like scary movies or you're a big sook, here's a list of five faves for you to settle in with this Halloween.

Five Halloween Movie Posters, The Monster Squad, Let The Right One In, Hereditary, The Thing, The Exorcist

DISCLAIMER: this is by no means a definitive list, more a playlist. Let me know your faves in the comments.

1. Hereditary

This won’t be the first time Ari Aster’s instant classic makes one of my lists this year. If you have not seen it, I implore you to check it out.

2. The Exorcist

Horror to some, but I look at films about demonic possession as more buddy comedies. This is the original and still one of the best.

3. Let the Right One In

My favourite vampire film. This one is stunning, although aside from it being part of the genre, nothing really horrific here. A beautiful film.

4. The Thing

John Carpenter is the king in this house and his remake of the 1951 movie The Thing is a masterclass in practical horror effects and suspense.

5. The Monster Squad

Look, I know this may be a controversial choice but hear me out. Halloween is all about the kids, so kick start their horror fixation early with this classic from Shane Black. Then you can watch the really scary stuff after they go to bed.
