Horror film fans around the world are paying tribute to director Tobe Hooper who passed away from 'natural causes' today.

Hooper was a trailblazer with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre being one of the greatest and most shocking horror films of all time.

He was also responsible for bringing Poltergeist and Salem’s lot to our screens and directed episodes of many television series such as The Equalizer, Tales From the Crypt, Amazing Stories and Freddy’s Nightmares. He even dabbled in music, directing the music video for Billy Idol’s ‘Dancing With Myself’ in 1983.

But mostly, we know and love him for bringing Leatherface to life. The Texas Chainsaw massacre is an absolute classic, so much so that when Michael Bay re-made it in 2003 they got Hooper in to clean the script up.

We’re still stinging from Romero’s passing. The hits keep on coming.

  1. It has certainly been a very sad year so far 😢 Another great pioneer of the horror genre gone. Though I certainly wasn’t a fan of all his movies, there is no denying the fact this man was a genius.
